Project Manager
Amref Health Africa is an African-led international health development organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded in 1957 as the Flying Doctors of East Africa to bring critical health services to remote communities, Amref Health Africa envision to bringing lasting health change for African more than 30 countries across the continent. With a focus on women and children, the organization strives to overcome the most critical health challenges facing the continent: maternal and child health, HIV & TB, malaria, water and sanitation and health systems strengthening. Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia has been working in Ethiopia since 2002 in close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health implementing a range of projects in maternal, neonatal and child health, reproductive health, health systems strengthening, health workforce development, water and sanitation, HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases across the country, supported by a wide range of multilateral and bilateral donors, corporates and foundations.
Amref Health Africa would like to recruit a Project Manager for its RESET II project. The job holders will be based in Semera and reports to the Program Manager.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Ensure timely development of project work plan and seek timely approval.
- Ensure that implementation challenges are addressed; lessons are identified, documented and reported to communicable disease Program manager
- Ensure that Health, Nutrition and Health project team members develop and timely submit monthly and quarterly plan, submit implementation is monitored and quality reports submitted on regular basis
- Ensure implementations of the project activities are in line with the approved work plan and that the activities are implementing in quality, efficient and timely manner.
- Ensure that Health, Nutrition and WASH component of the project is integrated with Food security& livelihood, DRR and WASH component of the project implemented by LVIA (Lay Volunteer International Agency), VSF (Veterinary San Frontiers), SCI (Save the Children International), in annual work plan, follow-up its implementation, review and report
- Ensure the integration of Nutrition project with the RESET II project
- Manage the project budget for Health, Nutrition & WASH activities by developing activity work plans and budget plans
- Ensure that financial utilization is in accordance with the approved budget and in compliance with Amref Health Africa and SCI operation standards.
- Ensure coordination with LVIA (Lay Volunteer International Agency), VSF (Veterinary San Frontiers), SCI (Save the Children International)and other like-minded organization and relevant government sector offices regarding Health, Nutrition & WASH in the project areas
- Ensure the establishment of Health, Nutrition & WASH coordination mechanism at woreda level and its proper functioning in collaboration with LVIA, VSF, SCI and other like-minded organization.
- Coordinate with communicable program manager and M&E officer in order to manage the project and area operations, supervise the project officer and Assistant project officer, and coordinate activity of Health, Nutrition & WASH by working closely with the technical team to ensure quality of interventions and on timely completion of activities
- Coordinate technical project staff; actively participate on monthly and quarterly Hub/field office level consortium member planning and review meetings on Health, Nutrition & WASH component of the project and follow up actions for implementation.
- Ensure that project teams schedules/plans are coordinated and completed timely and give support in the project target Zones/woredas under my direct supervision.
- Coordinate and ensure that the project's administrative processes, such as logistics, procurement, and policies are fully implemented according to Amref Health Africa and SCI procedures
- Serves as key liaison with in project operational woreda health offices in Health, Nutrition & WASH context
- Build and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with Woreda Health office, Zonal Health Department, Regional health bureau and others relevant regional officials.
- Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with LVIA (Lay Volunteer International Agency), VSF (Veterinary San Frontiers), SCI (Save the Children International)and other like-minded organization working on Health, Nutrition and WASH in the project operational areas e.g. active participation in coordination and networking relationships.
- Ensure visibility of the project through appropriate communication
- Monitor project activities according to the annual work plan using a variety of methods: review of reports, site visits to review records and to interview stakeholders and beneficiaries.
- Ensure that monitoring and reporting tools are developed and used in collaboration with project partners
- Ensure documentation, monitoring visit and follow up on actions points. Document improvement or changes recommended at last monitoring visit.
- Report regularly to communicable disease program manager on project updates, issues, needs, problems, or ideas for improving the project performance
Job Requirements
Qualification
· The job holder is expected to have Sociology, Public Health, Environmental health, BSC nurse, plus master degree in public health or health care management with good knowledge of global and national health issue.
· The job holder should have at least three years of Experience in project and programme management especially in NGO setting. Training on nutrition and emergency management has added value
· Good interpersonal skill,
· Partner’s management skill,
· Good communication skill.
· Good computer skill,
· Proposal and report writing skill
