    Project Description:
    Land O’Lakes International Development is currently seeking a Livestock Specialist for USAID-funded Growth through Nutrition project in Ethiopia. The project will provide ongoing assistance to the Government of Ethiopia (GOE) to strengthen the institutional and policy environment, develop its human resources for nutrition Sensitive Agriculture, and implement strategies that address poverty and food security and social and behavioral barriers to optimal nutrition.
     
    Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities:
    The Livestock Specialist will be responsible for the overarching technical approach in increasing access to diverse, safe and quality foods in the area of livestock products specifically. This position will oversee new and innovative ways to engage households in poultry rearing, dairy, sheep and goat production, and training individuals on animal husbandry and health. This individual will coordinate with the Prime on distribution schemes for vulnerable households, as well as scaling up chicken hatchery units, and will ensure strong integration of the project’s livestock and nutrition components. In addition, this position will coordinate with the Agribusiness Specialist to strengthen the role of the private sector in providing animal health services. And developing different business models in backyard chicken production.
     
    Reporting & Supervision:
    The Livestock Specialist will report to the Land O’Lakes GTN Project Manager.

     
    Job Requirements

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree and above in animal production and management, Veterinary science, or related field,
    5+ years’ professional experience, in livestock managing or implementing development programs. Coaching field Extension agents;
    Excellent English language communication, report writing and development of training materials.
    Livestock business development skill is an asset

The project will provide ongoing assistance to the Government of Ethiopia (GOE) to strengthen the institutional and policy environment, develop its human resources for nutrition Sensitive Agriculture, and implement strategies that address poverty and food security and social and behavioral barriers to optimal nutrition.   Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities: The Livestock Specialist will be responsible for the overarching technical approach in increasing access to diverse, safe and quality foods in the area of livestock products specifically. This position will oversee new and innovative ways to engage households in poultry rearing, dairy, sheep and goat production, and training individuals on animal husbandry and health. This individual will coordinate with the Prime on distribution schemes for vulnerable households, as well as scaling up chicken hatchery units, and will ensure strong integration of the project’s livestock and nutrition components. In addition, this position will coordinate with the Agribusiness Specialist to strengthen the role of the private sector in providing animal health services. And developing different business models in backyard chicken production.   Reporting & Supervision: The Livestock Specialist will report to the Land O’Lakes GTN Project Manager.   Job Requirements Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and above in animal production and management, Veterinary science, or related field, 5+ years’ professional experience, in livestock managing or implementing development programs. Coaching field Extension agents; Excellent English language communication, report writing and development of training materials.     Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia is a world leading organization committed to the treatment and reintegration of patients suffering from Obstetric Fistula and the training and deployment of qualified midwives to prevent Obstetric Fistula and other child birth injuries.  HFE is founded in 1974 by Drs Catherine and Reginald Hamlin have been caring for the women of Ethiopia for almost 40 years. As well as our main hospital in Addis Ababa we also have 5 regional hospitals, rehabilitation, and reintegration center and a midwifery school. We also deploy midwives in more than 36 health centers across the country and provide mentoring and other support services to these health centers.
    Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia would like to invite potential applicants for the Project Manager position.
    Basic duties and responsibilities, among other things, include:

    Facilitate all required to relocate MCH block renovation and construction
    checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations;
    making cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project;
    Follow up with site engineers of Contractor and/or subcontractor to ensure that work is being carried out as per design drawings, specifications & meeting planned dates in Schedule
    Communicate with the main engineer before high level technical decision
    managing, monitoring and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the client/engineer
    liaising with the local authority to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws;
    liaising with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress;
    planning the work and efficiently organizing the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines;

    Reports to: HFE (Client) engineer
    Required No: One (1)
    Terms of Employment: One year

     
    Job Requirements

    Qualification & Experience:

    BSc in Civil engineering and related field of studies
    4 years for BSc and 6 years for diploma

    Language: fluent in speaking and writing in Oromiffa
    Key competencies:

    Excellent written and oral English Language skills required
    Strong project management skills; and solid working experience in health center construction specially for maternity and child facilities settings
    Computer skill
    Ability and willingness to travel frequently between different program locations.
