With support in animal health, agriculture, marketing, and food safety, VSFG works towards food security and strengthened livelihoods of pastoralist communities. VSF Germany is registered and licensed in Ethiopia by charities and societies agency as a foreign charity since March 2010 and renewed its license every three years with the recent on April 27, 2016, with license no 1662. VSF Germany implements activities in Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, and Somalia.VSF Germany seeks to recruit qualified and well experienced employees for projects funded through European Union Trust Fund titled; “Omo Delta project-Expanding the Rangeland to achieve Growth & and Transformation” In south Omo and Bench Maji zones of southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples region. This Is In collaboration with other three partners from Ethiopian side namely Mercy Corps Europe (MCE), VITA (RTI) Ltd, and EPaRDA. The position to be filled is as follow and women are highly encouraged to apply.Job title: Community FacilitatorPlace of work: Surma woredaDonor: European UnionMonthly salary: As per VSF Germany salary scaleNo. Of positions: One (1)Length of Contract: One year with possible extensionJob Summary: The community facilitator will provide the overall technical, project,/organisational support and play facilitation role in target communities of Surma woreda. Establishes and maintains dose working relationship with communities and community organizations and Government line offices in her/his working area In order to ensure that the messages are disseminated and understood at all levels. Build the capacities of the community and institutionsKey Areas of responsibility:
Facilitate the implementation of livelihood component (livestock production, animal health, natural resource management and Fish component) of the project In accordance with project design, implementation planning and other interim plans;Participates In the development of a detailed implementation plan with staff and partners/stakeholders;Makes sure that project activities in Surma woreda are performed in line with the work plan;Support the Project Officer in project implementation, monitoring, follow up and evaluation at woreda levelEnsures that summary of community meetings, seminars or workshops facilitated and or he/she attends is well documented and shared with the Project Officer;Together with the Project Officer; complies monthly quarterly, midterm and annual reports for government, Donors and other partners;Together with the Project Officer, properly document the achievements and lessons of the project activities and share with concerned stakeholdersIn dose consultation with the Project Offlcet Ilaises with relevant government institutions, counterparts, NGO and CBO partners with the objective of effective implementation of the project activities;Establishes an effective working relationship with consortium member staffs, government, non-governmental and community based organizations In Surma woreda;Work cordially with local partners, authorities and leaders in reaching the beneficiaries.Keeps herself/himself updated about recent developments in assigned technical areas and related issues;Facilitates trainings, workshops, experience sharing visits, etc that are related to the needs of target beneficiaries and government line departmentsFacilitates community meetings and community action plan preparation and ensure that the participation of each community groups in problem identification, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation;Facilitates community targeting along with partners and responsible body from the Kebele;Supports and facilitate the development of action plan for their respective villages;Makes sure project beneficiaries are identified and selected in a participatory manner and full acknowledgement of the whole community;Builds capacities of the community representatives and committees undertake participatory monitoring of the implementation of the project works and record lessons and report to her/his supervisor.
Job Requirement:
Diploma in Animal health, animal science, Community Development, Natural Resource Management, Rural Development and other related disciplines;Minimum of four years of experience in livestock related development projects;Practical experience of working on Pastoralist areas, community mobilization, capacity building, livestock, and community developmentKnowledge and experience of working with pastoral communities of In SNNPR, especially in Surma woreda and speaking local language will be an added advantage
