Field IT Advisor

Job Summary of Responsibilities:
The primary role of the Field IT Advisor is to provide direct system and IT related support and guidance for HCMIS implementation at hospitals and health centers. The Advisor is expected to understand, communicate, train, and coach implementation of HCMIS in hospital and health centers. The primary outcomes of his/her work shall include progress on the implementation of the system, facility’s ability to use the system effectively and efficiently with minimal assistance, and the proper functioning of the system. He/she will coordinate with HCLAs and Regional Managers in the vicinity.
Specific Duties:
Provide IT field support to facilities in intensive and mature phases of HCMIS implementation. This includes delivery and donation of PCs and accessories using the appropriate donation form, configuration and installation of the software and applications, entering inventory, on site TA, installation and testing updates.
Conduct supportive supervision visits to HCMIS sites as per the cluster plan to provide on job training and solve encountered IT related problems.
Train, coach, monitor, and capacitate Health Informatics Technicians (HITs) on HCMIS technical support as part of HCMIS sustainability strategy.
Prepare and submit weekly activity schedules to his/her immediate supervisor and copy other relevant project staff.
Send timely activity reports (monthly and weekly) of activities using the standard reporting tool.
Work to proactively prevent any software related problems and provide timely response to emergency user requests. Field IT support is expected to be on call beyond normal office hours and at weekends.
Identify and report bugs, problems, issues, requests for improvements to HCMIS Manager and other IT support staff.
Support and assist facility staffs to take backup of recent databases.
Monitor HCMIS data quality regularly and consistently to ensure usability of the data for decision making.
Work and coordinate with the respective HCLAs and Regional Managers to use resources efficiently and to jointly solve outstanding challenges encountered.
Prepares his/her expense reports and settles advances in a timely manner
Develop good and professional working relationship with the store manager, pharmacy staff and facility staff.
Able to do demonstrations on HCMIS whenever needed.
Perform other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Job Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field desired
Two or more years of relevant and practical experience in the area. Experience and knowledge in pharmaceutical logistics is a plus.
Experience with stand-up training and on-the-job training
Previous work experience with John Snow, Inc., desirable.
Skills:
Strong representational and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal English, and proficiency in Amharic and Oromiffa.
Ability to communicate and transfer knowledge
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills,
Attention to detail, assertiveness, and commitment to results,
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
Willingness to travel to any health facility in their designated area of Ethiopia,
Willing to travel frequently usually more than 70 % of the time.
