The Carter Center country office in Ethiopia, which assists the Government of Ethiopia in Disease Elimination and Eradication Programs, is looking for a qualified professional to fill the following vacancy for the Guinea Worm Eradication Program it supports.Summary of Job Description:In 2016, The Carter Center in Ethiopia (TCCE) started a collaboration with partners to design and implement behavior change communication (BCC) campaign for Guinea worm disease (GWD) eradication entitled, “Let Our Journey Not Be Interrupted by Guinea Worm.” The BCC campaign promotes GWD preventive measures, as well as cash reward for reporting cases. The Ethiopian Dracunculiasis Eradication Program (EDEP) is responsible for overseeing the eradication program, and the successful post-holder will be integrated into this structure.The Behavior Change Communications (BCC) Officer will assist the BCC Manager in the national roll-out of the campaign and works closely with other GW staff of TCCE. This includes ensuring efficient logistical and administrative support for the effective dissemination of campaign tools (i.e., posters, jingles, song and radio dramas). The BCC Officer will also provide day-to-day support to field staff on data collection for M&E of the BCC campaign,  ensurethat data is collected, collated and delivered in a timely manner, in accordance with agreed milestones.Together with the BCC Manager, the BCC Officer will maintain excellent professional relationships with stakeholders in Ethiopia, including colleagues at EDEP, The Carter Center, media representatives and others. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and self-starter. Below are key responsibilities of the BCC Officer:Program Implementation:Work under the guidance and supervision of the BCC Manager to ensure that the campaign outputs are delivered in a timely mannerLiaise and coordinate with regional and zonal actors including Regional Health Bureaus, Zonal PHEMs, CBO and NGO networks, for partnership and collaboration geared towards strengthening community level BCC Work collaboratively with field EDEP team members, to ensure field program planning, development, resource availability and smooth and efficient management activities Conduct field supervision support to community structures to ensure completion of BCC work plansBuild the capacity of community-based volunteers and other community groups on community engagement approaches and campaign material use to ensure quality implementation at community levelKeep an updated inventory of field campaign material distributionProvide excellent support for monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities: recruitment and training of research assistants, data collection, and logistics of field trips Pragmatically troubleshoot any challenges that may be faced at field level, with professionalism Assist in the preparation and submission of weekly reports, monthly meeting presentations and monthly planning schedules in quality and timely manner with active participation in monthly review meetingsProvide logistical and administrative day-to-day support to the BCC ManagerAddress any other ad hoc requests or tasks, as required Representation:Build excellent rapport with in-country stakeholders related to the GWD eradication initiativeSupport the BCC Manager to provide detailed updates of campaign progress and milestones achieved at appropriate forums, including monthly and weekly progress meetings
