The Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) is a premier African institution with the mission to promote peace and security in Ethiopia and Africa through education, research and professional development. The Institute produces skilled professionals in conflict prevention, management and resolution as well as in peace building, and promotes the values of a democratic and peaceful society. IPSS is seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to fill the position of Communications Assistant to assist with the organization of the Institute’s events, the implementation of the overall communications strategy and various post-Tana Forum activities. Core tasks and responsibilities Under the guidance and supervision of the Coordinator for Communications and Profile Management, the Communications Assistant will: Perform writing, editing and proofreading of documents for the Tana Forum and other IPSS activities. Perform quality control checks in all publications, website content, op-eds, etc. Manage the production of the 2018 Tana Forum report. Assist in the development and management of a robust communications and social media strategy. Assist in the production of print products such as brochures and publications. Organize and maintain folders on the shared drive. Assist with procurement tasks (reviewing samples, collecting goods, etc.). Support the Communications Department with any other tasks.Contract duration6 months.
