Mercy Corps Ethiopia invites motivated and qualified candidates to apply for the following vacant positions. Position Title I: Assistant Project Officer Open Position: Four (One for each woreda) Duty Station: Dirashe, A/zuria, Konso and Alle Woreda in SNNPR Region POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the BRACED Project Coordinator, the Assistant Project Officer will oversee the overall BRACED program implementation in his/her respective assigned woreda (Derashe, A/zuria, konso and Alle woredas) in SNNPR state. The position holder will be responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of financial services, NRM/Watershed, urban and peri-urban resilience building activities, challenge fund and private public partnership development activities through market development approach in the area. The financial services and market development and market linkage activities will have a special focus on supporting women and youth groups SILC/VLSA and enterprise groups via Private Service Provider approach. She/he will be further responsible for submitting regular concept notes, facilitation plans and activity reports to the supervisor and will help ensure that planned activities are implemented effectively, on time and on budget, while maintaining high quality and contribution to the program objectives. The position holder will also work closely with other Mercy corps program and local government for effective implementation the projects in the area. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Technical Implementation Facilitate market assessment and facilitation of market linkages activities Facilitate the implementation of community-based NRM activities as per community plans, including soil and water conservation activities, Ensure the implementation of SILC/VSLA activities through effective PSP approach, Design, provide technical support and closely monitor the implementation of livelihood and market linkage project activities in the BRACED target areas Ensure each activity is preceded by appropriate participant selection and mobilization process and is guided by a facilitation plan agreed with supervisor and technical team. At the guidance of the Project coordinator, and with support from technical team, ensure all program activities are implemented in a coherent, synchronized and integrated manner with overall Mercy Corps Operation in the area. Ensure effective preparation for and active participation in program planning and review meetings, as per schedule established by office/program leadership; Facilitate community consultation and awareness rising events around shared natural resource utilization, management and rehabilitation processes Facilitate capacity building and linkages among formal and non-formal institutions for sustainable natural resource use and management of shared resources Support participatory beneficiary selection for different activities Ensure all plans and processes engage all key sectors of shared natural resource communities, with special attention to women, youth and traditional leadership. Monitoring and Evaluation · Complete activity and field reporting formats as per reporting schedules and formats and write other project reports and documents as required. · Regularly provide updates supervisors on progress of activity implementation and contribute to periodic operational area context analysis – including opportunities, challenges and further recommendations; · Document and disseminate lessons-learned and best-practices on sustainable shared resource management and livelihood adaptation processes initiated in the area Representation · Promote and adhere to the principles and objectives of Mercy Corps and its programs; · Represent Mercy Corps, as advised by supervisor, to local governments and authorities and arrange meetings with government offices and agencies, as required; · Represent Mercy Corps professionally during and after work hours · Perform other activities as requested
