Position:- LOGISTICS MANAGERLocation Addis Ababa: EthiopiaPosition Status: Full TimeMercy Corps has been present in Ethiopia since 2004 working to drive bold and transformative ideas, working closely with government, the private sector and civil society actors to build a more resilient country, ensuring that programs are responsive to and influenced by participants and stakeholders. Our vision is to enhance the resilience of climate and conflict-affected communities through market systems development for improved livelihoods, access to food, and safe and clean water to thrive in the face of crises. Our strategy focuses on the four outcome areas of: 1) Economically marginalized populations have improved and diversified livelihoods, income, and assets; 2) Pastoralists, farmers, and households have access to sustainably produced, safe, nutritious food; 3) Social cohesion and inclusive governance processes are built in crisis-affected communities; and 4) People have equitable, sustained access to clean water and sanitation for domestic and productive use. Currently we operate in the regional states of Afar, Amhara, Gambella, Oromia, Somali, Sidama, Southern Ethiopia, Tigray and Addis Ababa city administration working with a diverse base of donors that includes United States Agency for International Development (USAID), European Union, GAC, Hilton Foundation, United Nations (UN), JOA, Sweden, EKN, and other foundations.The Program / Department / Team (Program / Department Summary)The Operations Department provides key support to the entire country program in procurement, asset management, warehouse management, fleet management, IT Management, Safety and Security Management, and facilities & and office management for successful program implementation.Essential Responsibilities Provide advice and support to senior management on logistics issues, and collaborate with Program teams on budgets, implementation mechanisms and other technical aspects related to logistics functions as required.Oversee tracking of all assets to ensure accurate record-keeping of Mercy Corps and donor assets, including exceptional items requiring registration and movement tracking, according to the Mercy Corps Field Asset Management Manual.Oversee the fleet management team and ensure that systems are in place to track maintenance schedules, fuel usage and vehicle scheduling as described in the Field Fleet Management Guidelines.Oversee the warehouse management function and the team to ensure materials are stored and managed properly as per the provisions in the Field Warehouse Management Policy.Capacity building and management support to logistics team members.TEAM MANAGEMENT Develop the capacity of the logistics team, deepen understanding of their roles and assist with career development.Assist team members with information, tools and resources to improve performance & reach objectives.Promote accountability, communicate expectations and provide constructive feedback informally and formally via regular one-on-one and performance reviews.Create and sustain a work environment of mutual respect where team members strive to achieve excellence.Orient and lead team members as necessary on the field.Work with the field office team to ensure smooth introduction and adoption of operational systems.SECURITY Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies as determined by country leadership.Proactively ensure that team members operate in a secure environment and are aware of policies. Supervisory Responsibility Senior Operations Officer, Senior Logistics Officer, Fleet Officer, Warehouse Officer.Accountability Reports Directly To: Senior Operations ManagerAccountability to Participants and StakeholdersMercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work.
