Introduction Solidaridad is an international network organization with eight regional expertise centers worldwide including Eastern and Central Africa, West Africa, Southern Africa, South America, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America and the global Secretariat in the Netherlands. Solidaridad Eastern and Central Africa, one of the regional centers, is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya with country offices and programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda. For more information, refer to: http://www.solidaridadnetwork.org/ Leather Initiative for Sustainable Employment Creation (LISEC) - Ethiopia In Modjo, two main challenges affecting the population are : youth unemployment (especially for women) and leather waste contamination by tanneries. To better understand the root causes of these problems, PIN, Solidaridad and IRC conducted a joint assessment in February 2020 in Modjo, meeting several key informants from the government (Municipality, Environment Protection Office, One Stop centers, etc), from the private sector (tanneries and other actors in the leather and leather product (LLP) value chain) and the population. The project design was influenced by these problems and also by previous assessments done in the area by the partners, Solidaridad’s work with tanneries within the Green Tanning Initiative and PIN work in skills development and job creation in the leather sector since the project in Addis Ababa. LISEC is a 40 months project funded by the European Union providing appropriate support to MSMEs and ensuring their financial sustainability in Ethiopia. It aims to strengthen social cohesion by supporting local economic and social development initiatives, especially for women and youth living in the Modjo area in Ethiopia and enhancing the industrial and labor relations in Mojo Leather City (MLC). The key implementing partners include Solidaridad East and Central Africa (ECA), People in Need (PIN) - the lead partner and International Rescue Mission (IRC). Solidaridad is responsible for the outcome which focuses on improving leather waste management and manufacturing practices. Expected Project Outcomes The project outcomes include: Improved skills and access to decent and green (self) employment opportunities in Modjo and surrounding (Job creation and skills development);Improved capacities of tanneries and other leather actors in good manufacturing practices and waste management.Improved social cohesion in Modjo and surrounding communities. Objectives of the service This assignment is guided by the need of the project to capacity build and facilitate access to technology and market linkages between MSMEs and technology providers. The project also aims to improve knowledge, skills, and access to technology in leather solid waste management (tanneries and MSME) in Ethiopia. The LISEC project in partnership with Ethiopian Leather Industries Association (ELIA), are facilitating MSMEs to showcase and sell their leather products using an ecommerce platform that has been developed by ELIA. In order to have a strong presence in the ecommerce market, the facilitated MSMEs need to have digital identity and branding of their business e.g logos, banners and company branding themes/templates. This will enable them to increase their visibility and thus increase their sales and revenues. Responsibilities of Consultants/Scope of Work The consultant will be responsible for: Working closely with the MSMEs lead contact persons and Solidaridad staff to brainstorm and clarify on their logo and branding ideas.Iteratively design and present different versions of the logos, banners and themes to the MSMEs making sure the needs and vision of the MSMEs are well understood and incorporated into the designs.Submit the final design outputs to the MSMEs and Solidaridad in compliance with the deliverables specifications.Make a 30 seconds pitch video of the MSMEs and the products which will be used in social media marketing.Design and print 200 copies of personal contact cards for the lead personnel/manager in the MSMEs. The Contractor undertaking the assignment will work under the coordination of the Solidaridad (ECA) LISEC Project management and the digital team. Deliverables Final logos of the 16 MSMEs indifferent formats including but not limited to vector formats (can be edited later using a design tool), standard raster/image format, grayscale format, social media format and transparent formats.Final banner designs for 16 different MSMEs - in vector, standard image and printable formats. The banner will be used in ecommerce profile pages and in social media campaigns.A 30 seconds pitch video for each MSMEs to be used in social media campaigns.Branding guidelines for the 16 MSMEs including color palettes and typography.Final design of contact card for MSMEs lead personnel or manager in vector, standard image and printable versions - 1 contact card design per MSME.Printed 200 copies of the designed contact card for each MSME.Consultancy TermsThe overall time frame of the consultancy will be 30 days.The payment of project charges will be as follows:40% of the project charges will be paid on signing of the contract and submission of a blueprint (Inception report) including work-plan and methodology for the assignment (in English).50% of the project charges will be paid after completion of the three deliverables. 10% of the project charges will be paid after submission of the final report (in English).EvaluationThe institutions/firms should deliver a separate technical and financial proposal that will be assessed as follows:Technical proposal: 70 Points Financial proposal: 30 PointsSubmission deadline The consultant is required to submit the E.O.I detailing the approach & methodology, budget, and work plan by the 19th of September 2023.
