Introduction and Background Background about MWA Millennium Water Alliance (MWA) is a permanent coalition of leading humanitarian and private organizations that convenes, integrates, and influences critical players in the business, technology, government, and NGO sectors to supply safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) to millions of the poorest people in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. MWA works with governments, corporations, foundations and other NGOs to advance best practices, share knowledge, build collaboration and advocate for greater commitment to achieve sustainable WASH services. Currently, MWA in collaboration with partners implements a five-year ‘Sustainable WASH Project’ in three woredas of Amhara Region. Sustainable WASH Project Objectives: Sustainable WASH Project is a five-year collaborative project which intends to: Strengthen key aspects of the service delivery system including planning, partnerships, resources and institutional capacity. Increase access to safe water and improved hygiene and sanitation services in public schools, through the use of new and proven models, to reach over 45,000 students by 2024. Increase access to safe and sustainable water and hygiene services at healthcare facilities, through the use of new and proven models, to reach over 500,000 people. Increase the population of people served with basic access by 8% and reduce non-functionality by 6% through testing and implementing new and proven models and strengthening government-led monitoring systems. Objective of the Consultancy The communication and photography consultant will be hired to support MWA-ET communication tasks: Document best practices, stories from the field, video documentaries (3-5 minutes), and in photography . Our WASH interventions and accomplishments to be featured include: Contribution of the projects to improve WASH services in communities of targeted districts. Improvement of communities and local government governance, planning and monitoring using, data management and capacities for expanding access to water, sanitation and hygiene services. Contribution made to improved WASH services in schools and health care facilities How the interventions have improved school attendance for girls and improved the hygiene condition and MHM in the schools. Comparison of the before and after situations in the life of communities, conditions in schools and health care facilities. Documentation on WASH and Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) intervention and Assessment of MWA-ET current communication practices, recommend areas of improvement Creating and supporting/managing content for various communication channels including social media and newsletters. Design and produce high quality communication materials like brochures, infographics, videos, etc. Crafting key messages and developing compelling storytelling that aligns with MWA mission and resonates with the target audiences. More specific topics to be documented in the best practices, stories, video and photography and technical conditions to be considered during the documentation will be shared later during the face-to-face meeting with the consulting team. The consultant is expected to: Conduct desk review of relevant organization and projects’ documents in order to get familiarized with key interventions. Meet in person with CR & M&E and partners for detailed technical support and follow up. Prepare and share a detailed work plan, and produce an elaborative scripts and shooting schemes for the documentaries and photography. Travel to project intervention sites for filming/shooting and interviewing beneficiaries, school communities and staffs of health care facilities to be featured in the documentation. Work closely with the field staffs in the process of documentation Work with regional coordinator based in Bahir Dar Organize material for the stated projects and produce the documentaries in Amharic with English subtitle, deliver also the documentaries without subtitle so they can be edited in-house when necessary. Share draft copy to be reviewed by MWA- and global office and get approval for final packaging. Address feedback and inputs provided by the team, and produce the final master copies of the documentary and deliver with flash discs for approval from MWA-ET. Ensure the documentaries are of broadcast standard for use on website and external as well as internal dissemination. Deliver the material in time as discussed and agreed with MWA-ET The consultant should in general be able to ensure the vision and aspiration of MWA-ET is reflected in the documentary films, ensure the effort that the project has made in assisting the regional government and woredas well addressed in the film. Target group to be featured in the documentary: Direct beneficiary communities, WASH committee memebers, health extension workers, community, schools and health care facilities and kebele leaders, religious leaders, relevant woreda administration heads and focal persons of WASH and water and health offices, project partners and collaborators. Schools and health care facilities, regional bureaus, Wereda offices professionals MWA staffs at country and field office level MWA partners country office staffs working on the program and field offices professional Project sites: Projects sites include North Mecha in West Gojjam and Dera and Farta Wereda of South Gondar in Amhara region 700 Km max away from Addis Ababa.
