Children Believe Fund (CBF) is a child-centered, community-based international development organization devoted to addressing the needs of children, their families and communities by implementing programs that focus on education, early childhood development, child protection, health & nutrition, WASH, sustainable livelihood development, disaster risk reduction and gender equality in different parts of Ethiopia. Currently Children Believe Fund wants to hire one Communication Manager for CBF Ethiopia Country Office.Job Responsibilities: The Communication Manager will be at the heart of creating content and establishing relationships to advance Children Believe Fund’s (CBF) communication strategy, advocacy, and fundraising priorities aligned to the organization’s Strategic Plan. S/He will be responsible for creating, developing and distributing compelling digital and traditional media contents, taking quality photos and audiovisual contents to engage stakeholders in a vibrant and interactive way and to spark conversation and engagement around issues related to CBF’s core intent to enhance visibility and brand recognition. He/ She is accountable for the creation, implementation and overseeing of communications work that effectively describes and promotes CBF’s work in the country and in support of the Canada office content needs. The Communication Manager will report to Country Representative (CR). Key responsibilities include but not limited to: Develop New Business Development Strategy, Grants/New Business Annual Plan and Annual Grant Revenue Forecast.Research and identify opportunities for funding from funding agencies through assessing potential funding source (donors). Develop, implement, and maintain local internal and external communications plans and profile building based on corporate strategy, including issues management, media and public relations, and other communications products.Determine strategic communications campaigns that will help further organizational goals.Support the communications and visibility capacity of CBF to establish CBF as a leading child focused, professional, non-sectarian and international development organization.Align the country office communications strategy to CBF’s organizational “Influencing Agenda”, “Centre of Excellence” and other strategic priorities of local offices and region.Develop a network for effective media relations with key stakeholders at local and regional levels.Develop and improve online communication presence and story placements using the web and social networks as appropriate.Develop a communications plan especially related to grant projects and provide stories, fact sheets, backgrounders, photographs, and video to support reporting and promotion of the projects.Generate, collate, coordinate, maintain and disseminate content and visuals (stories, program photography, videos, quotes, and other information related to all programs and grant projects from the field) to help the organization build and nurture relationships with donors and the public at various levels.Proactively share stories and visual assets with the Canada Office including high-quality English translations of all shared stories.In sync with the global content requirements, provide oversight and support for capturing stories, photos and video about children and their experiences pertaining to CBF’s sponsorship program to show impact and engage donors to augment trust.Research, write, edit, and oversee the production and distribution of publications such as story lines for publications, media, policies, supporter correspondence, newsletters, annual report, brochures, policy planning reports, etc.Work in partnership with -PO-Sponsorship, New Business Development Manager and Finance Manager on joint projects, collaterals, proposal development, information sharing and cross-cutting themes.Support website and intranet content. Develop and provide input for social media platforms as required.Media relations activities including writing press releases, booking interviews, and serving as an alternative local spokesperson under the guidance of the CR and Director, Strategic Communications. Manage the preparation and distribution of information, communications and visibility materials to special interest groups, governments, public, donor agencies, and foundations in coordination with the Canada Office. Provide oversight and support to local partner staff and project field staff on capturing and sharing stories, photos and videos about children and their experiences of the sponsorship relationship and CB’s programs.Swift collection of child-focused quotes, stories, photo and video content in the event of any emergencies In collaboration with Country Representative, manage representation and influence at strategic networks and coalitions, making CB visible on programmatic interventions and advocacy issues as assigned. As brand ambassador, responsible for overall communications, including collateral print materials, digital publications and managing media relations to build the brand and the visibility of CBF.Conceptualize, execute strategic events to increase the visibility of CBF by advancing the policy agenda. Monitor CBF’s brand ensuring consistency of messaging, tone, style, and visual identity in country of operation.In collaboration with organization partners, serve as liaison between the organization and the media (press, radio and TV) and in security and crisis situations proactively prepare press statements and ensure appropriate placement.Remain alert to potential reputation risks in the region’s program countries and mitigate any such risks in consultation with the Director, Strategic Communications.Manage activities, communications, special events, workshops, meetings and conferences.Ensure that all content deliverables comply with branding guidelines, safeguarding standards and other policies of CBF.
