1.Organizational Background1.1. Lawyers Human Rights Lawyer for Human Rights (LHR) is an Ethiopian non-governmental non-profit organization/association of lawyers working for the promotion and protection of human rights in Ethiopia. The vision of LHR is to be a frontline human rights and constitutional accountability advocate and watchdog in Ethiopia and an effective domestic force in the development of a human rights culture in Ethiopia. LHR mission include: to promote awareness, protection and enforcement of human rights through litigation and advocacy, to facilitate unimpeded access to and administration of justice by making available high quality and free legal service, to fight impunity for human rights violations by ensuring accountability of perpetrators, to strengthen the capacity of lawyers and human rights advocates through tailor made trainings and to strengthen laws, policies and institutional frameworks through proactive monitoring, research and advocacy.LHR in consortium with Advocate Ethiopia (AE) and Mizan Yong Lawyers Association (MYLC) has been implementing the Civil Society Innovation Fund (CSIF) program in order to advance human rights through legal aid services.1.2. Advocates Ethiopia Advocates Ethiopia (AE) is one of the members of the consortium, registered as a local not for profit human right organization in 2007(2001 Ethiopian calendar) by the association of Lawyers and re-registered according to the new Charities and Societies Proclamation No. 1113/2011 with an overall objective of human rights advocacy.1.3. Mizan Young Lawyers Center (MYLC)Mizan Young Lawyers center is also a human right advocacy organization established in 2015. Like LHR and AE it is also a CSOs emerged from the legal community. It is an organization based out of the capital city, where many CSOs tend to concentrate, and this will add an invaluable value to this consortium as it has hands-on challenges in regions and clear understanding of the context out of the capital city.2.Audit ContextThe purpose of the audit is as to meet the requirement of the financing agreement between the lead LHR, and AFD.The audit firm will be selected by LHR. No objection will be given by AFD.3.Audit ScopeIt is an annual audit for the consortium, lead by LHR. The audit covers the three consortium member organizations, that are LHR, AE and MYLC, and the three organizations dedicated account for the AFD project.
