    Serve as the lead expert and prime focal person for health related projects.
    Participate in different capacity building programmes;
    Ensure the feasibility of health projects using different project appraisal dimensions/criteria, and prepare project proposals upon approval;
    Prepare plans and budget for all his/her activities, and ensure their implementation upon approval;
    Develop and implement standard data collection techniques/methods for all nutrition and health projects, and ensure that the operations of the firm are on the basis of the standards;
    Develop and maintain relationships and networks with key external stakeholders, including the food, nutrition and health community, to promote science-based policies, education, and communication;
     Be responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and support of the assigned nutrition field interventions in line with the activity plan and time frame of the relevant project proposal and any applicable national and international USAID guidelines and standards;
    Facilitate partners learning, synthesis, documentation and sharing of experience/learning of public health within the organization;
    Develop internal organizational nutrition and health training and development of tools/guidelines/standards to improve program quality;
    Actively engage in nutrition and health networks with key partners including government and institutions/agencies, universities, and donors;
    Produce analytical reports, analytical papers, guidelines, success stories, lessons learned;
    Organize and execute project-monitoring activities; Collect, categorize and synthesise evidence on a wide range of nutrition related research and analysis in Ethiopia;


    Compile regular reports on the progress of the project;
    Perform any other task assigned by the General Manager. 

     
    Job Requirements:
    Qualifications and Experience: MSc in Public Health, Nutrition Science, Health Economics, Health Monitoring and Evaluation, Health Project Management or related field of studies.  PhD in similar disciplines is advantageous. The specialist should have significant nutrition and health related experience of diverse governmental and/or bilateral and multilateral donor funded projects. The applicant is required to be a creative, innovative and strategic thinker, and will have an excellent communication skills (written and spoken English), analytical skill of the current nutrition and health situation of the country, reporting, organizational, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; and finally proven ability to produce results. The candidate should have at least five years working with nutrition and health organizations on Results Based Management (RBM); and having relevant and demonstrable working experience in providing food security and nutrition technical advice to international donor agencies on large international development projects, including cooperating with key stakeholders in Ethiopia (i.e. donors, UN agencies, International Health Institutions, Government of Ethiopia’s line ministries and agencies); demonstrated experience in demand creation and community mobilization for community and facility-based health services; and has received training on nutrition mainstreaming in the health, community mobilization and related topics.     Produce, document and share program implementation reports, supportive supervision as well as mentoring reports as per the standard format;
    Ensure that feedback from supportive supervision visits, review meetings and related forums are applied in the facilities for continuous improvement in gender and health communication interventions;
    Identify areas of best practices and success stories and collaborate with Regional Managers of PRIN and communication team to produce the practice report and stories;
    Closely work with PRIN and USAID/Transform MELA Monitoring and Evaluation team to document performance, develop data base and update it regularly.

    Camp setting: The situation in camps is relatively stable but remains unpredictable; there is potential conflict between sub-clans/ ethnic groups in most camps.

    Community Mobilization and Awareness Raising:

    Participate in awareness raising aimed at promoting effective access of all refugees to L-3 registration.
    Utilize participatory methodology to identify and report concerns to the registration and protection teams.
    Play a lead role in the formation of community groups for mobilizations.
    Work with women, girls, men and boys, local partners and Community Based Organizations to sensitize on the importance of L-3 registration.

    Reporting:

    Submit weekly narrative reports to camp Protection / Registration staff in a timely manner.
    Communicate all obstacles/Problems to camps Program Manager for further action.
    Follow-up on trainings/sensitizations/meetings conducted to ensure implementation of plans
    Any other duties as needed.

    ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Completion of Secondary Education.
    Minimum 5 years of relevant job experience (3 years with post-secondary certificate/training).
    Computer skills (MS office and People Soft applications).
