Addis Ababa, July 7, 2018 (FBC) –The Ethiopian parliament, in its 6th extraordinary session, today approved the appointment of a total of 123 federal judges.
The appointment took into consideration their educational qualifications, experiences, and ethics, it was noted.
The parliament endorsed the appointment of a total of 49 judges (41 male and 8 female) for the federal high court.
Similarly, it approved the appointment of 74 judges (58 male and 16 female) for the federal first instance court.
Moreover, the Parliament approved the proposal tabled to fill the vacant positions at the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) management board.
Accordingly, it endorsed the appointment of Ahmed Shide, Minister of Government Communication Affairs Office as chairman and Dr Merera Gudina and Halima Badegeba as members of the management board, respectively.
The Parliament also approved the appointment of Dr Endale Haile as Chief Ombudsman of the Ethiopian Institution of the Ombudsman.
