Addis Ababa, June 15, 2018 (FBC) –Ethiopian Muslims are celebrating the 1,439th Eid al-Fitr festivity, which marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
Here in the capital, it was celebrated at the Addis Ababa Stadium in the presence of religious leaders, government officials, and Muslim faithful, among others.
During the celebration, Sheik Mohammed Amin Jemal, President of the Ethiopian Islamic Affair Supreme Council (EIASC), wished all Muslim faithful a happy Eid al-Fitr.
The President further called on all people and the youth in particular to guard the country’s peace.
Mayor of Addis Ababa city, Diriba Kuma, for his part urged the current generation to defend the Constitution which guaranteed Ethiopian citizens the right to religious freedom.
He further called on religious fathers to teach the young generation the long standing tradition of co-existence and religious tolerance in Ethiopia.
