We are very excited to come back to scheduling the monthly Awra Doro Party, now relocated to Bahir Zaf which we believe will be your new favorite hangout. Starting early at 3pm we're welcoming the whole family and singles to hang out in their lovely garden. We'll be transforming the space into a colorful 'Garden of Eden' with several bonfires, visuals and new lights. We have raincovers in case of rain!
Behind the record decks we have Tinnish & Tillik selecting their favorite black gold from their massive collection, low & high tempo circular delights. Selecta Mitmitta will be bringing a bunch of newly arrived favorites, soulful, stompin' funky, worldwide selections. Remember Awra Doro always presents the warmest sounds from records creating an ambiance you won't find anywhere else.
A new Addis Abeba based duo, TCHIRA DUO, recently recorded an album with the soundengineer Shahzad (Bjørk, Tom Waits). They consists of Mesinqo virtuoso Endris Hassen (aka Jimi Endris) and our dearest stringpuller Kaethe Hostetter (aka Alganesh Wuzzewazze). Their music is interpretations of Ethiopian melodies, cut up, reconstructed, with loops and unexpected sounds of the universe. Their concert on the Awra Doro soundsystem is their first real amplified performance. Their act starts at 7pm.
Bahir Zaf has an irresistable menu of both food and drinks, so come hungry if you like. A house punch and cocktails and much more will be on the menu.
Bahir Zaf is located right next to Tobiya Tej in Haya Hullet behind Axum & Debre Damo Hotel. Map is coming.
