No we are not food critics…..neither are we good cooks, well I guess one of us (there is a huuuuge debate on who :-) ) may know a thing or two. We are just two individuals who happen to enjoy eating out and who revere good food. Well CJ seems to disagree as she averred that we like food but we love writing…..the past almost four years that we’ve known each other say otherwise as we have visited various restaurants and relished out meal like crazy. This blog is an exposè of our adventurous journey while discovering restaurants. We will be playing good cop bad cop while reviewing the restaurants that we will be dinning at. boodfloggers is an independent blog which provides information about restaurants and pastry shops in Addis. Some of the information that we will be providing are the location of the restaurant and what they serve ; review of the meal we had; the ambiance ; the customer service and last but not least the price of the meal.

Savor Addis is an eatery located at Bole Atlas about 200 meters behind 2000 Habesha.
Savor Addis has a well thought out wonderful design with beautiful furniture and interior. Savor Addis's dominant three colors of green, orange and brown are respectively the theme for the kids’ corner, cafe and elegant restaurant all within the same roof and view. It is interesting to see how the place has something to offer for every one with games and entertainment, tablet screens for kids, restaurant, a sofa and couch for chatting, high tables for working on your laptop with free WIFI connections and a normal cafe setup where you can sip on wonderful macchiato as you explore the set of pastry and ice-cream on display.
For our review we asked for the specialty of Savor and the Roasted Lamb was recommended and
for our second dish we opted for Ravioli with Bolognese sauce.
The roasted lamb came soon enough as we were enjoying the starter of bread and some yummy chili tomato paste. Neatly arranged roasted lamb with dominant brown sauce accompanied by vibrant green beans and potato cubes. This dish is a must must have for its amazing tenderness we used our fork and knife to easily get the meat off the bones and wonderful tasty brown sauce. We also enjoyed the potatoes which had subtle flavor cooked to perfection.
Next came the Ravioli and the first reaction from K before even we could taste it was that she could smell the cheese given its freshness. The pasta was fresh and the staffing was good except we would have enjoyed the ravioli more if the liquid from the Bolognese sauce was less not distorting the taste and consistency of even the staffing.
We enjoyed the customer service where there are attentive attendants that try to make you feel at home. We paid a total of 354.20 ETB for the roasted lamb( 150 ETB) for the ravioli (110 ETB) and 1L water.

Dawit Kitfo is a kitfo bet located around Atlas Desalegen just few meters down from Washington Hotel.
Our visit was welcomed with a funny beginning where upon shortly after we took our sit we could over hear an interesting conversation between a customer on the next table with the waiter. The lady was ordering drinks and she says ‘Diet Ale’ which is said in short to ask if they had diet coke thinking she would obviously be understood. The waiter responds “Ale Eyemeta neaw” the lady confused asks “who is coming” and the waiter was like “Dawit” and CJ and K by this time burst into laughter. Apparently Dawit is the owner guessing from the name of the restaurant who was standing nearby and the waiter thinks the lady was referring to ‘dawit’. It was a good laugh when finally everyone understood the mishap J
The restaurant has spacious moderately decorated cultural setup. We ordered well-cooked kitfo and shekla Tibs for our review.
First came the Tibs in not more than 6 to 7 minutes after we placed the order we love the speed but it got us wondering if this was freshly fried meat or something just reheated. We didn’t hesitate to dig in and we liked the tibs which had wonderful taste although nothing extraordinary about it.
Soon after followed our Kitfo brought on a clay pot accompanied by pieces of ‘Kocho’, ‘Gomen’, ‘Ayeb’, ‘melted butter placed on a small container’ and pieces of Injera. The Kitfo had felt butter and a taste too ordinary of that of a simple fried minced meet. We liked the Tibs better and the Kitfo needs more work to add taste to it and make it compete with a well done traditional memorable kitfo taste.
The waiters were attentive we even had constant check from the supervisor which we feel was a good customer focus. We paid a total of 305 birr for the two meals, Royal tonic and two coffees. We paid 104 birr for the Tibs and 122 birr for the Kitfo. Of course we made sure that we did not order ‘diet coke’J.

The restaurant is moderately decorated with a simple set-up and ordinary ambiance.
We ordered Margarita Pizza, Tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce and special combo. The Margarita Pizza was ordered for our little guest who wanted non-oily simple pizza. Indeed the Pizza had as little pizza as possible which was to our satisfaction with good amount of tomato base and cheese.
We liked the taste of the pizza and its simplicity yet it didnt strike us as extraordinary. We specially would have prefered if the pizza base was not too dry.
Our next dish the Tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce was spot on! Loved the Bolognese sauce it had well balanced wonderful taste. We would most definetly return for the sake of this meal.
The last but not least dish was a combination of tagliatelle with the bolognese sauce, lazagna and salad as a side dish.
again the tagliattele was our favourite on this plate as well since, it is the same wonderful sauce. We enjoyed the lazagna too which was cheesy and nice.
As for the service it was ok but at times it was difficult to get the attention of the attendants who disappeared in the inner rooms as we were sitting on the sheltered veranda.
The worst part of our experience was that there was unwholesome whiff from an open sewerage at the corner that was disturbing. The management seriously needs to look into this matter.
We paid ETB 77 for the Margarita Pizza, ETB 52 for the Tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce and ETB 84 for the special combo.

Located around Bekelobet Concord is a hotel and restaurant in front of Lancia.
We visited the restaurant on a Sunday and apparently there were not many customers. We felt that the dinning area looked a bit tattered. We lowered our expectation of the food judging by the ambiance and ordered pepper steak and grilled chicken. The pepper steak is served with tagliatelle and veggies. To our surprise the steak was truly spectacular and has a sauce that just leaves you with an extraordinary savor.
You know how they say don't judge the book by its cover well in our case don't judge the food by the ambiance :)
The Chicken is also served with steamed veggies. We loved the taste of the chicken but it was too chewy. As for the service we had to wait a while before we could get the waiters attention. In fact we moved from the dining area in the front to the dinning space by the parking because of the poor attention we received.
Both the dishes have exceeded our expectations and we paid a total of 329 ETB for the
two dishes 2 soft drinks and Macchiato.

Loving....Veg. delight from loving hut!
For those of you who are on a vegan diet or follow the lifestyle.... well this could be a good alternative for you.
Located around Edna mall next to Redwan Building, Loving Hut is a vegan restaurant serving all kinds of vegan dishes. The place is decorated in a modest semi traditional way and the vegan lifestyle is echoed in the overall ambiance.
For this review we ordered Beyayenetu and ocean bliss with rice.
The Beyayentu is a typical assortment of Ethiopian vegetarian dishes which has a decent savor although not something different from the usual Beyayentu that you'll have elsewhere.
The ocean bliss is a vegan meat served with rice tomato sauce and vegetables. The taste of the vegan meat is truly lovely and is well enjoyed with the vegs that were served along.
The customer service was good and we paid a total of 132 ETB for the above dishes and 2 soft drinks.

The Oldest Pastry Parlor
Even before some of us started to spell the word cake; this pastry parlor has been serving customers. Located at the intersection behind banko di roma on churchil avenue; Enrico has been serving its loyal customer base for many decades.
In this pastry shop; as many would know you have to be good on your timing as they’ll quickly be sold out; so it would be good to pay a visit early in the morning till 10, 10:30 or around 4:00 in the afternoon.
For this visit we tried all the varieties that were available and in all honesty your senses delight in the pure distinction of the cakes. They’re just transcendent. The pastries at Enrico are always consistent and many say that no one soul knows the recipes for perfecting such a mouthwatering pastry.
For 6 cakes we paid 42 ETB and oh…..you have to pay first before starting to dig in. and it’s basically self-service unless you visit the place off peak hours.
